September on the Hill!

Aaaaand we’re back! With Fall Break upon us, it is time to reflect back on our first month back on the hill. We have been busy training, hanging out, studying (sometimes) and enjoying the beautiful fall on the Hill. We started off the semester by meeting all our lovely new faces – we have about 10 new First Years joining us this year — while playing the now infamous ‘The Game’, also known as many other things. Since then, we have been too busy doing activities to actually put the roller skis to the ground (just kidding).

Nordies have since been spotted cheering on our current and past XC runners at the Alumni Meet and the St. Olaf Invite. We hosted a penalty kick contest for our Ole Pride event at the Men’s soccer game against Macalester — which was a huge success once we figured out what a penalty kick contest was, and then proceeded to recruit a second goalie because people are just too good at penalty kicks. Shout out to our Alpine friends for being good sports — literally — and taking the role as goalie(s) AND for winning the contest. Was it rigged? Nobody knows. Especially us since we hardly know how to play soccer.

Mitchell proved his lack of skill as goalie (you can use your hands, Mitchell!) during a friendly match against the Piners, and the Nordies left the field with their heads hanging. We also lost a bizarrely long game of Corn Hole against the Piners at the annual homecoming event hosted by Paul Wojack (??). We have come to recognize that our skills may lie elsewhere. Alpine: 2 Nordic: 0
Otherwise we have been out on the Northfield roads, enjoying crisp blue skies and gorgeous corn fields. Despite the flooding of Downtown, we have had a spectacular pre-season and are pumped to ramp up the training as official practice began on October 1st.
