Spring Fun!

April brings a lull in the competitive skiing adventures of our team, but the fun never stops!  At our end of season banquet Brochman gave accurate and detailed descriptions of the successes of each skier’s season, and of their training plans while abroad.  It was a great time to celebrate the season.

Congratulations to all the Academic All-Americans from the Nordic and Alpine Teams.

In our new free time we revived an old favorite ski team game: Mafia.  At first things weren’t looking good for the mafia when Molly was killed in the first vote.  But Leif was then able to kill all the rest of us pretty quickly.   After that we joined with the Alpine team to play a game of hug assassins.  Additionally Tuesday afternoons have become game time.  With some nicer weather we’ve been able to play frisbee outside, but have also played some basketball, gone rock climbing, and invented a new game of tennis.  Our intramural this session is outdoor futsal.  With a stellar record of 1-1 (with only 1 game played), we are in the finals! And now that things are drying up, the roller skis are coming out of hibernation as we prepare for next year.

Our season would not have been possible without support from many people. First off, Coach Kevin Brochman for all the time he spends working with the team.  Liza Dawley was instrumental in organizing the team and keeping us represented here on campus.  Spencer Ware-Joncas provided much needed waxing help, and supplied skis, boots, and poles for many of the athletes competing at USCSA’s.  Finally, many thanks our captains: Shelby, Liza, Mitchell, and Leif for their leadership, friendship and skiing enthusiasm.  Next year’s captains are Molly, Bri, Laura, Ethan, and Mitchell.  Thanks for reading and your support!
